Freebies worth a damn and the Whitelist

Everyone is piling on the bandwagon and touting this, so there’s really no need for me to give yet another link, but Ryan Deiss has got me scratching my head.  He’s giving such valuable information and resources away for free that you have to wonder what is he keeping back to earn some money down the line?  The Cherry Picker software was a good start, his analysis of what you need for traffic generation (including freshness of content) breaks some new ground, and his codes for finding .gov and .edu sites to get backlinks from are immediately exploitable.  Gold star or dunce’s cap to Ryan, depending on your perspective (I’ve gained less info and resources from some courses I’ve paid $77 for – see below).

Another of the good guys who has given me tangible information for free is Phil Henderson of Stupidly Simple SEO.  He got on my whitelist with some good tips about how quickly Xomba gets indexed for Amazon affiliate write-ups, which helped me sell a £130 CD book set in half a day.  More recently he sent me a great demo of how to whip up an advertising video with a free version of animoto.  Great signal to noise ratio from Phil.

Having carped recently about the marketers who buddy up to you with a sales pitch but then won’t answer your emails, I should mention that I’ve come across some great exceptions recently.

Paul Hooper has become my go-to person for SEO automation – he’s such a fan of all things technical and so knowledgeable.  We seem to be travelling parallel tracks, though I’m some way behind still.  Always answers emails with more detail than i ever expected and, best of all, clued me in about the capabilities of Micro Niche Finder, which is proving to be my top recent purchase (wonder how big the SEO automation niche is)

When I’m in the mood for a rant about the iniquities of Internet Marketers, Wayne Sharer always responds to my comments with sensible balanced commentary, generally pointing out the exaggerations in my position in the nicest possible way.  And every post he sends out to his list is worth reading, as are the blogs they link to.

Vince Severson is probably the only person I know who shares my interest in both Internet Marketing and Roulette Bots!  The difference is that he’s a skilled programmer and I’m just an enthusiastic software user.  In fact, you are unlikely to be on his lists unless you have bought either Roulette Assault or Article Marketing Robot (both of which I highly recommend).  My fingers are crossed and my breath abated waiting for imminent launches of a Blackjack bot with a decent staking system and an SEO automator to rival Xrumer.

Others on the Whitelist include Alex Sysoef who gives great support for his Expert WordPress product (which is the way I set up my automated blogs) and Thomas Hoefter who could sell me anything he wants after the revelation which is WP-Robot.

Cutting a swathe through the rest of my subscriptions, chopping out all of the me-too links, misleading titles and over-hyped descriptions.  I thought from all of the praise I read that Underground Traffic Blueprints was going to eclipse the second coming.  Instead of which I have to watch hours and hours of a guy talking over every branch of a single mindmap, in order to try to find the odd gem of information (newsnow.com so far – save yourself $77!).  Hopefully little enough left in my mailbox after my cleanout to give me time to actually build some sites!

Two posts in a day!  I’m on a roll, but don’t hold your breath for the next one.  I have some sites to develop and some bots to tend.

PS – why do people think that just because you bought their product, you want to buy life’s every necessity through their affiliate links forevermore.  Cindy and Soren, you know what I’m talking about – I’m still waiting for CB Pirate to deliver on all its promises, so lets focus on that!  Normal grumpy service has been restored…

    Hello Mark,

    Thanks for the good comments.

I was going to send this in an email, but decided while I’m here, just put here for everyone.

I did a little “link search” here on your blog. I saw something missing. Couldn’t find back links from directories.

Key point for long term traffic generation — go to http://www.addurl.nu/ and start adding 5 per day. I one month, you’ll be in 150. Or, pay someone to do it. Just do it.

Also, go to BlogCatalog.com. Get a profile, submit this blog. When approved, do the “expose yourself” for $5. It get’s you front page listing for 1 day, and in that day, I typically get 400 -500 new visits and some new long-term visitors. It’s worth the $5.

Finally, use either the OnlyWire plugin or the WPSyndicator plug in to do your social bookmarking. You’ll “experience” the difference.

    Stay well

Thanks Wayne, will definitely follow your advice for this and other blogs. Funnily enough, I haven’t done any SEO or deliberate backlinking for this, but it’s starting to be picked up and passed around. Actually I have tweeted the topics I cover from time to time. Anyway it’s growing organically and I’m happy for this one not to be very monetised at the moment. Someone on another blog said he couldn’t see what keywords I was trying to target and I realised what a different mindset I came into this with. I’m coming from a background of blogging as vanity publishing rather than as a moneymaker (I had a few blogs on Livejournal for a few years with never the slightest attempt at making money from them). Therefore the target keyword perspective is all a bit new since April or so. Starting to get the point, though, and building a few more SEO-savvy features into new blogs as I roll them out.

    Hi Mark,

I have to say, i really do enjoy reading your posts, you seem to inject your personality into them really well.

Anyway, onto the post. I haven’t downloaded the Cherry Picker software yet. I probably will just to see what it is like, but i am enjoying watching the accompanying videos that Ryan Diess is putting out, some useful little nuggets in them, and like you say, more info’ than a lot of the paid products out there.

Some great tips in the comment from Wayne too, and i will have to second his mention of the two plugins he mentioned, OnlyWire and WPSyndicator, both well worth getting. I would also add Power Indexer to those two also, this will help any sites linking back to you get indexed faster so your backlinks show up and start to work for you.

Glad you’re enjoying MNF, it’s been a dream for me and recommend it to anyone.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Thanks Paul. It’s a bit like fools rush in as far as my blogging goes. It was just last week, while reviewing the features of an SEO WordPress plugin, that I realised that titles should really bear some direct relationship to a post’s content. Especially on the Botfarm I almost revelled in putting in obscure references or puns for the title.

I like your coverage of physical versus digital products. My experience with the blackhairfocus blog supports the idea that there is a river in full flood for physical products, while I’ve been padding about in a pool on the riverbank which is digital products (ever had a metaphor run away with you?). Anyway, you get the idea. There’s no shortage of people currently saying go local, go physical, but you explain it better than most.
